María Almena - Transcendence: How Live Performance Art & Technology Can Induce Altered States

Performance art can induce altered states of consciousness when combined with interactive technology. By integrating visual art, movement, and sound tracking systems, these performances create immersive spaces that function as modern rituals. Inspired by traditional shamanic practices and personal experiences with ayahuasca, these artistic interventions aim to facilitate a therapeutic, transcendental connection between the human body, the collective psyche, and digital environments. These works use contemporary media as a magical tool to explore the human condition, relying on the performer's movements to dynamically influence the surrounding digital environment and create shared, meditative experiences.
