#40 Tom Morgan: Dark Night of the Soul and the Future of Intelligence

Tom Morgan discusses his account of a spontaneous spiritual awakening that followed his career in finance and forced a rethinking of reality, mental health, and what intelligence means. The conversation connects the experience of a "Dark Night of the Soul" with distinctions and overlaps between spiritual crisis and mental illness, while emphasizing the psychological and societal implications of such disruptions. Morgan frames his ideas through complexity theory, depth psychology, neuroscience, and spiritual traditions, proposing "attractor intelligence" as a hidden organizing force guiding individuals toward wholeness and complexity. He also addresses risks and uncertainties he associates with meditation, psychedelics, and other psychotechnologies, and explains how his Leading Edge community supports high-agency personal transformation.
