Indian Ambition & Mermaids

Stand-up comedian Nimesh Patel jokes about the nature of ambition within Indian immigrant families, contrasting the intense pressure to acquire wealth with alternative, unconventional dreams. Reflecting on a Netflix documentary about professional mermaids, Patel playfully contrasts traditional career paths like medicine or engineering with the eccentric freedom of living as a mermaid. He humorously notes how his own parents would react to such non-traditional life choices.
