Optimi Health sells reimbursed natural psilocybin in Australia while funding a 200-participant Canadian depression trial

Optimi Health plans a Health Canada-authorized Phase 2 trial of naturally derived psilocybin for major depressive disorder, with up to 200 participants and dosing expected to begin in the first half of 2027. The company says its current cash, including proceeds from a US$15 million public offering, can fund the study. Optimi is unusual among psychedelic drug developers because it already sells GMP-manufactured psilocybin capsules in Australia through the Authorised Prescriber Scheme, with reimbursement reported from public and private payers. However, its commercial base remains small: revenue was C$239,700 for the nine months ended June 30, versus a C$5.55 million net loss and C$13.07 million in cash. The trial also represents a technical bet on naturally sourced psilocybin rather than synthetic formulations, raising separate batch-consistency questions. No trial results exist yet, and public disclosures do not clarify whether the new study replaces an earlier Optimi-ATMA program.
