Oregon's Legal Psilocybin Services Show Real-World Improvements in Depression, Anxiety, and Well-Being
An 88-person naturalistic study of Oregon's state-licensed psilocybin services found significant improvements in depression, anxiety, and well-being 30 days after a session. Researchers from Bendable Therapy, Osmind, and UCSF tracked participants who received services between March 2024 and April 2025 outside a clinical trial, including Robin Carhart-Harris. Improvements persisted among the nearly half of participants taking psychiatric medication. Two people reported lingering visual aftereffects one day later that had resolved by 30 days, while three reported psychological aftereffects at the 30-day follow-up. The findings resemble results from controlled clinical research, but interpretation is limited by the small, self-selected sample, lack of a control group, and substantial out-of-state participation. The study is a medRxiv preprint and has not yet been peer-reviewed.
