Worth the Wait: Cambridge Adds Its Voice to UK Psychedelic Science
Cambridge Psychedelic Research Group (CPRG) expands UK psychedelic research by launching multiple clinical trials and building NHS-ready psychedelic therapy infrastructure. CPRG, led by consultant psychiatrist Dr Liliana Galindo, is a partnership between the University of Cambridge, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust, and Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. After securing a Home Office license and officially launching in March 2025, the group runs research at CPFT and the NIHR Cambridge Clinical Research Facility, with multiple dosing rooms and planned growth. Its pipeline includes a Phase 2 methylone (TSND-201) trial for PTSD and planned psilocybin trials for depression and anxiety, plus mechanism studies targeting inflammation markers and psilocybin effects on the immune system. CPRG is also designing MDMA-assisted group therapy for PTSD for UK veterans and first responders, and an MDMA-assisted Internal Family Systems (IFS) approach for young adults with anorexia nervosa. The group convenes the Cambridge Psychedelic Research Day to coordinate clinicians, researchers, and NHS integration needs, with a second event scheduled for April 2026.
